Dual Mass Flywheels
Modern flywheels are designed to dampen out engine vibrations that are being transmitted to the gearbox. The unit is split between a primary section that bolts to the crankshaft, and a secondary section that has the clutch bolted on to it. Between the two sections there is a flexible bonding, generally made of rubber.
Sometimes the flexible bonding deteriorates, causing clutch or vibration problems. If they start to fail they can be expensive to fix since these items are generally available from the main dealer only. Some manufacturers have started to develop solid flywheel replacements, which can be a cost-effective alternative. We are happy to provide this option if it is available for your model.
Engine & Cylinder Head Work
A failed engine does not have to mean the end of your car. We have the equipment and experience to make all the necessary repairs, and a courtesy car is available free of charge while your car is off the road. Our staff also has a great deal of experience replacing and rebuilding cylinder head gaskets, and our engine parts come with a one-year unlimited mileage warranty.
The cam belt plays a huge role in keeping your engine running. Unfortunately, this is usually the least-maintained component. If a cam belt snaps, it will destroy your engine. These belts should be replaced at least every 40,000 miles, and if you would like to know the specific mileage that your manufacturer recommends for a change, we will find that out for you.
